Alpaca & Muscovy

end of year brings about changes at Kensmyth

Well we had a fantastic Christmas with a nice break and although very boozy for some, farming life continued with husbandry even on the colder evenings… weaning is next on the Agenda, closely followed by Halter Training as every year.

Meantime – we managed our “new look” homepage to include the sheep…

Christmas Eve tomorrow – take a look around you in the Cotswolds…

Well it is Christmas Eve tomorrow and I have made a few visits in this past week … all around there is a great feeling in the Cotswolds of goodwill and Festive Spirit…

My top marks go to Siddington Post Office which is only small but look at the effort they have made on behalf of their clients in Festive Cheer…

and we have had our last booked visitor here at Kensmyth to see the Alpaca and our latest additions…

Sheep scanning for 2017 – how exciting

Well with the Alpaca having been scanned a long time ago by myself and my trusty Probe Scanner, it was nice to take a “back seat” and let someone else do the work on the Sheep this year!

And I have to say that Luke was very efficient.

Yes, I can save money and use my scanner probe on sheep but I do not have the equipment required for the job as yet and not a worthy investment with such a teeny weeny flock as yet!

However – that might be something on a “wanted” list for another time.

meantime – all Ewes of all breeds here pregnant so fingers crossed for safe lambing in the New Year…

getting ready for 2017 at Kensmyth already…

well you might think this is a funny picture of a guard dog guarding but actually it is meant to show the piles of planings in readiness for improving tracks for our visitors next year. It has been over four years now since we came and they need a bit of tidying!
